Το θέμα της
προκλητικότητας των Τούρκων στην Κυπριακή ΑΟΖ έθεσε χθες στο
προεδρείο του ΕΛΚ ο Αντιπρόεδρος Βαγγέλης Μεϊμαράκης. Στη σημερινή συνεδρίαση
της Ολομέλειας μαζί με τους Κύπριους
ευρωβουλευτές πέτυχαν ομόφωνα
προκλητικότητας των Τούρκων στην Κυπριακή ΑΟΖ έθεσε χθες στο
προεδρείο του ΕΛΚ ο Αντιπρόεδρος Βαγγέλης Μεϊμαράκης. Στη σημερινή συνεδρίαση
της Ολομέλειας μαζί με τους Κύπριους
ευρωβουλευτές πέτυχαν ομόφωνα
με
ψήφισμα-δήλωση την καταδίκη της Τουρκίας από το Ευρωπαϊκό Λαϊκό Κόμμα.

στην υπεράσπιση του ευρωπαϊκού κεκτημένου, διότι η εχθρική πράξη της Τουρκίας
δεν στρέφεται μόνο κατά της Κύπρου, αλλά σύμφωνα με το διεθνές δίκαιο της θάλασσας και τις
συνθήκες που ισχύουν, κρίνεται ως εχθρική προκλητική πράξη κατά της ίδιας
της ΕΕ. Συνεπώς, δεν είναι μόνο μια
πράξη αλληλεγγύης, αλλά κίνηση υπεράσπισης των δικών της ζωτικών συμφερόντων.
Και ως εκ τούτου δεν μπορεί να μείνει αδιάφορη».

In this context, and in accordance
with the decisions of yesterday’s General Affairs Council, the EPP Group
expresses serious concerns over Turkey’s illegal drilling activities in the
Eastern Mediterranean and deplores that Turkey has not yet responded to the
EU’s repeated calls to cease such illegal activities.

The EPP Group reiterates its full
support and solidarity for the Republic of Cyprus and calls on Turkey to show
restraint and respect the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus and
refrain from any such illegal actions. Turkish actions in Cyprus’ EEZ will have

Institutions and Member States to respond appropriately by imposing legal,
political, economic and diplomatic restrictive measures (sanctions) against
Turkey.
