IANOS | ΣΥΖΗΤΗΣΗ |ΠΡΕΣΒΕΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΙΣΡΑΗΛ LIFE CHANGING MOMENTS IN LITERATURE

Την Τρίτη 15 Μαΐου στις 20:30 η Πρεσβεία του Ισραήλ στην Ελλάδα ,στο πλαίσιο του Αθήνα Παγκόσμια Πρωτεύουσα Βιβλίου 2018, διοργανώνει στον ΙΑΝΟ (Σταδίου 24) συζήτηση με θέμα “Life-changing moments in literature” μεταξύ των τριών Ισραηλινών συγγραφέων Eshkol Nevo, Esty Hayim και Iris Eliya Cohen και του Έλληνα συγγραφέα Χρήστου Χωμενίδη.

Η συζήτηση θα διεξαχθεί στα αγγλικά.

Λίγα λόγια για τον Εσκόλ Νεβό

O Εσκόλ Νεβό γεννήθηκε στην Ιερουσαλήμ το 1971. Σπούδασε κειμενογράφος στη Σχολή Τίρζα Γκρανότ και ψυχολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Τελ Αβίβ. Σήμερα διευθύνει τη μεγαλύτερη ιδιωτική σχολή δημιουργικής γραφής στο Ισραήλ και θεωρείται ο μέντορας πολλών νέων ανερχόμενων συγγραφέων. Έχει εκδώσει μυθιστορήματα, συλλογές διηγημάτων και αφηγήματα. Ο ίδιος είναι ιδιαιτέρως αγαπητός στους αναγνώστες και όλα του τα βιβλία έχουν συμπεριληφθεί στις λίστες των ευπώλητων τίτλων. Το έργο του έχει μεταφραστεί σε πολλές ευρωπαϊκές γλώσσες. Το μυθιστόρημα Τρεις όροφοι (2015) είναι το τελευταίο του βιβλίο και το πρώτο που μεταφράζεται στην ελληνική γλώσσα από τις Εκδόσεις Καστανιώτη (2017). Τα υπόλοιπα έργα του: Ο Τσίμερ στο Γκιβατάιμ (2001), Εγχειρίδιο γι’ αυτούς που χώρισαν πρόσφατα (2002), Τέσσερα σπίτια και νοσταλγία (2004), Ευχές Παγκοσμίου Κυπέλλου (2007), Ο μπαμπάς της Αμαλίας ταξιδεύει στην Αυστραλία (2010), Άγνωστος τόπος (2011), Το τελευταίο τελετουργικό λουτρό στη Σιβηρία (2013).

Published Books:

2013 – A Novel: "Corner Pepple"- Kineret-Zmora-Bitan. It receives excellent reviews and comments from readers, academic staff and other writers as Hanoch Bartov, Davied Grosman, Nava Semel and more. The book won the Brener prize for literature for 2014 and the Prime Minister Levi Eshkol Prize for literature for 2015. The Novel was published in Italy in October 2017 and it's the Adei-Wizo Award finalist for 2018

2007 - A Novel: "Three of Them"- Yedioth-Proza

The novel was published on December 2007, It received a lot of attention and  good critics. It sells very well and it seems that young and older readers love reading it.

 The novel tells the story of three young people- two boys and a girl, their relationship, their love and their separation as they grow up and go to different ways.

2006 a short play of mine was presented in Tzavta Theatre-Tel-Aviv -

2003 - A Novel: "Something good will happen tomorrow"(Yedioth-Proza)

The novel got very good critics and has been a Best-seller. It has been recently translated into English.

1999 - A Novel. "Our second lives" (Hsiriya Hahadasha) The book was received with love by critics and readers.

Translated in to English.

1997 - Stories. "Black dancer in a solo troupe"(Hsfriya Hahadasha/Hakibbutz Hameuchad) The book received wonderful reviews from critics and readers. Stories from the book have been translated and published in Anthologies all over the world.

Publications

Many of my stories and articles have been published in Literature Journals and news papers in Israel and abroad. ("Summer" in "Maaboret"-The short story project, short srotries in "Alachson", "moznayim", "Hamusach" and more.

I wrote book critics in Haaretz book magazine and still do it sometimes.

My stories have been published in Anthologies in Israel and abroad,

in English, Russian, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian, Chinese and more..

From time to time I'm invited to lecture in Universities, book and writers fairs around the world. In 2014 I was invited to Harvard and Pen universities in the U.S.A. my lecture's name was "I have no mother tongue, just a language I adopted as my home" about my last Novel. At 2016 I lectured in Berlin and at 2017 I traveled for a book tour in Italy.

I Studied drama at Tel-Aviv University as well as classical and modern dance

. Worked as an actress at the "Cameri Theatre", Tel Aviv and acted in Hanoch Levin's and in Moty Lerner's plays.

In the nineteen-eighties I've been twice in the U.S as a drama teacher and director of plays in "Rama" summer camps.

 For the last thirteen years, I teach creative writing at "Seminar H kibbutzim" College, in the 'Katedra', and in 'Beit-Ariela' and in "Ben-Gurion" University.

From time to time I write literary reviews in Haaretz newspaper and other literary magazines.

I lead writing workshops and give lectures at Universities and Literary events.

These days I'm in the process of writing my new Novel.

Λίγα λόγια για την Iris Eliya-Cohen

Iris Eliya-Cohen (1969) is an Israeli writer and poet, the 2015 winner of the prestigious Israeli Prime Minister award for literature.

Eliya-Cohen is the author of three novel books and two poetry collections: Maktub ("("Destiny"), 2011. Winner of the Ramat-Gan literary award and the Israeli Minister of Culture award), Dushinka, Neshama ("Dushinka Soul", 2013. Nominated for the prestigious Sapir literature award), Galbi ("My heart" 2016. Nominated for the prestigious Sapir literature award). Poems from her two acclaimed poetry collections (Sh'charchoret "Dark Lady" and Pele, "Wonder") were translated into Spanish, English and French and were published in magazines and other venues in Israel. Her poems are taught under the official literature studies curriculum of Israeli high schools. Eliya-Cohen also lectures extensively on poetry and literature in academically acclaimed institutions

In 2017 purchased the Habima Theater the rights to dramatize "Galbi" (Yedioth Books 2016). The play will rise on stages in late 2018. In addition, the composer, playwright and director Hanna Wazana Grinwald adapted the poem "Maternity" from "Wonder-Poems and Songs" 2017) for a performance that will be staged at the Hebrew-Arab Theater in Jaffa during 2018. The play depicts the stolen mothers of the kidnapped children of Yemen, East and Balkans.

At the end of 2017, Eliya-Cohen's sixth prose book will appear and will be called: "Six Hours and a Man." (by Yedioth Books)

Eliya-Cohen lives with her husband and four children in the northern part of Israel.
